Last few days!
September 13 – October 6, 2019
This September the MAC Gallery presents “Concrete Coincidence” opening Friday, September 13, 2019. The show will feature new work from three MAC Gallery artists Amelia Cain, Lisa Carr, and Laurie Doran.
You have heard the phrase, “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” The same holds true for creating art.
Often we have a solid plan to create a piece when out of the blue, something completely unplanned finds its way in front of us. We are presented a with a fortunate find like a fallen branch lying across a stream resembling a person, or an abandoned house in the woods inviting us in, just waiting for us to notice. “Concrete Coincidence” is about happy accidents and unexpected surprises and discoveries that enhance our artworks and make them special.
Photographer Amelia Cain captures the almost missed opportunities as we go about our daily life. Her works exhibit the richness of detail in the negative spaces as well as the bold lines created between the darkness and the light.
Painter Laurie Doran creates colorful abstracted landscapes and imaginative illustrative images using both paint on canvas as well as digital media. Her works evoke a sense of movement which relates to the constant changes we encounter and how we react to them.
Painter Lisa Carr uses acrylic and mixed media to create abstracts which are inspired by the layers of texture found in nature and in the weathering of man-made objects exposed to the elements over time. Her works invite the viewer to use their imagination to discover their own visions.
The public is warmly invited to the opening reception, Saturday, September 14, from 4-7pm. The show will run through Sunday, October 6, 2019. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday 4-7pm and Sunday 12-3pm. The MAC Gallery is located at 609-B West State Street, Media, Pennsylvania.
Gallery Hours: Fri. – Sat. 4:00 – 7:00 pm, and Sun. 12:00 – 3:00 pm
